September 5, 2006

Coaches Present:

Coach Bakersky and Coach East

Officers Present:

Laurie East, President

Cindy Posegate, Treasurer

Brenda Orndorff, Secretary

President, Laurie East called the meeting to order.

Equipment Purchase:

Laurie East reported that Coach Ski has ordered an Iron Mike pitching machine which should arrive in 4 to 6 weeks.  This will give us two machines.  It will be mounted outside, so the players can use it as often as they like.  A cover will be included.  Discussion followed regarding security and liability issues.  Other local high schools pitching machines are left open and available to players at all times.  The machine also is equipped with a softball arm, and Coach Ski wants to make it available for use by the girls’ softball team as well.  Another work day in the complex may be necessary for additional clean-up and putting in gravel.

Golf Tournament Fund Raiser:

There are currently 10 corporate hole sponsors and 18 are needed.  We are still in great need of golfers.  Dick’s Sporting Goods is donating golf balls with the Loveland Indians logo.  Mike Koponen is working on getting prizes from local businesses.  Although we have received some, everyone is encouraged to continue to solicit prizes, gift certificates, etc., that will be used for raffle prizes.  Trish Malik added that all facets of the tournament are under control, however, heavy promotion of the event must continue.  A flashing message promoting the tournament will be posted on the website requesting participants by September 29th.  It was recommended that there be a “meal only” charge for those wives or boys who would like to eat afterwards.   The Booster Club agreed to sell Mulligans and strings-- rish has the associated costs.  Player participation was discussed and determined that the boys could sell raffle tickets and help carry bags, etc.

Other Fund Raiser Ideas:

There was preliminary discussion regarding a possible Casino Night fund raiser in January as well as a potential location.

Workouts:

No unofficial workouts will be held until after October 1st.

Miscellaneous Topics:-

Baseballs are needed for use with the Iron Mike.  However, Coach Ski feels that replacing the net in the batting cage is the top priority due to safety issues.  It was decided that a new net will be purchased with proceeds from the golf tournament.  Old baseballs will be used for the Iron Mike and new balls will be purchased closer to spring.

Coach Ski indicated there is $1,000 in the account currently that he would like to earmark for additional coaches.

Agenda:

Email Laurie East if you have any items you would like included on the agenda.

Next Meeting:

Next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 26, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. at the Coldwell Banker Office.  This is not according to the typical schedule, however, the meeting was moved up in order to allow for adequate time to discuss the final details of the golf tournament.  There will most likely not be a meeting in October.
