Loveland High School Baseball – Board and Booster Club Meeting Minutes

September 26, 2006

President, Laurie East called the meeting to order.

Secretary, Brenda Orndorff, gave a brief summary from the minutes of the last meeting held on September 5, 2006.

Golf Tournament Fund Raiser:

Report from Treasurer, Cindy Posegate, on the status of golf tournament funds received to date.  She will be making the first deposit soon.  Ten hole sponsors have paid and to date there are 22 paid golfers with a potential of 34 more golfers, for a total of 56 possible.  If half of the potential golfers commit, there would be approximately 40 golfers.  After brief discussion, it was agreed  by all present to proceed with the tournament.  It was also agreed that late sign-ups will be accepted.  Trish Malik reported that catering numbers are needed by September 29^th.

Doug Malik will handle T-shirt order and printing.  Jenny Snyder(Embroidme) has offered their services for printing the T-shirts at cost.

More door prizes are needed.  There was discussion regarding the lack of response from parents in soliciting donations for prizes and suggestions were made for contacting parents requesting help in various ways.  Mike Koponen and Coach East will be soliticing business tomorrow for additional prizes. 

A list of corporate hole sponsors is needed from Coach Ski so that signs can be printed.

There was discussion and questions raised regarding the following details:  Minimum number of golfers needed, assignment of foursomes, final price per player, rain check for inclement weather, rule list, free rounds for winning team, extra merchandise for prizes from golf course, etc.  Due to the absence of Kent Huesinkveld, golf tournament director, a special meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, October 10^th to finalize these details and answers these questions.

Other Fund Raiser Ideas:

There was discussion about additional fund raising events.  It was decided that we wait until after the first of the year as we get closer to the beginning of the baseball season before we actually hold our next fundraising event.  In addition, it was determined that a budget must be established by Coach Ski to include necessities as well as a wish list so we can identify specifically what our financial needs are.

Workouts:

Unofficial, voluntary workouts will begin Monday, October 9^th.  They will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  On each of these days there will be weight and agility training in the weight room at 6:30 a.m. as well as hitting, pitching, and catching immediately after school.

Meeting with Team Doctors:

Coach Thorne reported that Coach Ski plans to have a meeting with parents in which several doctors will be present to discuss different theories as it relates to the health and well-being of our players.  It was recommended that this meeting be held after tryouts have been held, for the purpose of combing this presentation with various other topics, when the majority of parents can be present.

Miscellaneous Topics:-

Coach East reported that the Iron Mike will be shipped from Kansas City soon and should be arriving on Friday or Monday. 

The spring schedule is almost complete for all three teams, and they should have it soon.

Two coaches have accepted the offer to coach at the C team level.   It is looking hopeful that many of last spring’s coaches will return as well.
